CIQ Certificate
CIQ – The China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau
The General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) acts as the administrative organ for quality control, measurement and inspection of import and export commodities, certification and accreditation, as well as law enforcement in China.
In order to fulfill its mandate, AQSIQ has set up 35 Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureaus (CIQ) in China’s 31 provinces, plus several hundred local offices across the country in shipping ports and airports.
CIQ Certificate and CCC Certification
In some cases, even if the product does not actually need to be certified, Chinese customs officers might still demand a 3C certificate as the tariff numbers and product names indicate that CCC is mandatory. Therefore, it is strongly recommended before exporting any products to China to check if a particular product is included in the catalogue of CCC compulsory products.
If products that are not subject to CCC are detained at the border by Chinese customs and a CCC certificate is requested, obtaining a CIQ certificate (or CIQ declaration) is a good solution.
